Today, I write to you from the heart!
In October 2017, I had my first attempt of making this project a real adventure or better to say, my husband pushed me to do so, literary. While driving in our car to our way home, I saw a group of 4 men working on a fence. I told my husband that I would of like to start making a photography art work with hard working people (Mi Gente) showing their hands and telling a little about their story. He immediately stoped the car and said, "GO" I was like no, how am I going to be like, hey I know you don't know me but let me take you a picture, no no no no. My husband said, "you have to start, if you want to do it, you should do it, go" and he pushed me out the door after parking near them. For some reason I did had my camera with me that moment. I usually don't carry my camera unless I'm doing a photo session. I took it. I crossed the road. Told them I was working on a new project and these are the resulting photographs:
As growing up I have always noticed and recognized the hard work my parents and many other parents have done to make of our (their children's) lives a better one.
My dream for this project is bigger than 2 years ago, I don't have all the answers of how I am going to make it happen, but I hope I can keep making it grow one step at a time. I would like to make of this project the inspiration of many, to be a voice of the unheard, to be an educational resource for many. Help along the way is always welcome!
I have always thought, if I can inspire at least one person after reading or seeing any of my work, I am winning. Yes, I am winning because I think inspiration can be the beginning tool of great things. I live by the phrase "see the good, be the good."
Next post will be the actual kick off of Nuestras Manos. Stay tuned, share with friends, give us a like! ;)
